Las Palmas will host the AquaWind Showcase Event on the 6th June

On 6 June 2025, the Edificio Fundación Puerto Las Palmas will host the AquaWind Showcase Event, a key day to learn about this pioneering European project that combines offshore wind energy with aquaculture in open waters.

The event is organised with the collaboration of the Society for Economic Promotion of Gran Canaria (SPEGC) and is part of the European Maritime Days in My Country, an initiative of the European Commission that promotes local activities around the blue economy and the sustainable development of the marine environment in all member countries.

The day will start at 09:00 and will be attended by institutional representatives and experts from the maritime, innovation and investment fields. During the morning, the progress of the AquaWind project will be presented and the importance of the concept of blue dual vocational training in the maritime sector, investment opportunities in the Canary Islands and the challenges of the multipurpose offshore model will be discussed.

Speakers include representatives from ACIISI, EnerOcean, PLOCAN, the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster and the Las Palmas Maritime-Fisheries Vocational Training Institute.

The conference will be structured in two parts:
🔹 An institutional session open to the public with key presentations.
🔹 A private technical session aimed at entities and agents interested in investment opportunities in the blue economy.

To close the event, attendees are invited to participate in the official opening of FIMAR 2025, the International Maritime Fair, consolidated as the main showcase of the maritime sector in the Canary Islands.

The AquaWind Showcase Event is a unique opportunity to discover how the Canary Islands are positioned as a strategic territory in Europe for the development of projects that promote marine innovation, ocean sustainability and synergies between energy and marine food.
