The European project AquaWind will be present at the European Maritime Days 2025, actively participating in the workshop ‘The role of aquaculture in the Multiuse of the Sea’, which will take place on 23rd May in the Council Chambers of Cork City Council (Ireland).
This workshop will address the growing role of aquaculture as a driver for economic development, food security and restoration of natural habitats, in the context of the shared use of maritime spaces. In particular, its synergy with renewable energy production and its potential in multi-use models of the sea will be explored.
Three European projects funded through different programmes and located in different sea basins will participate in the event. AquaWind will represent the Atlantic area, sharing its pioneering approach combining offshore wind energy and sustainable aquaculture. Javier Roo, project coordinator, will speak on behalf of the consortium.
In addition, the AquaWind team will be present on 22 May at the stand of the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), sharing the progress of the project with visitors, experts and institutional representatives.
With this participation, AquaWind reinforces its commitment to collaborative innovation for a more efficient, sustainable and inclusive use of the European marine environment.
