AquaWind strengthens synergies with BlueSupplyChain in the promotion of offshore wind in Macaronesia

The AquaWind project has been present at the kick-off meeting of BlueSupplyChain, an initiative led by FEDEPORT and funded through the Interreg MAC 2021-2027 programme. This event, held on 29 January 2025 at the Marine-Maritime Innovation Centre of Gran Canaria, brought together the main players in the sector to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the implementation of offshore wind in Macaronesia.

During the presentation of the project’s work packages, Silvia Martín Imholz, Research Line Manager of the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN), presented the progress and objectives of AquaWind, highlighting its focus on the development of multi-purpose prototypes for the generation of marine renewable energies. The synergy between the two projects will maximise the use of maritime space and foster collaboration between companies and public entities.

AquaWind’s participation in this event reinforces its commitment to energy transition and innovation in renewable energies, contributing to the creation of a sustainable ecosystem in the region. Cooperation with initiatives such as BlueSupplyChain opens up new opportunities for the development of advanced technologies and the integration of SMEs in the offshore wind value chain in Macaronesia.
